When we accept dogs into our adoption program, some may need only a good brushing and bath, their coat trimmed or their muzzle and feet shaved. Others come to us in deplorable condition from long-term neglect or because they have been lost or abandoned and on their own for quite some time. Poodles' hair never stops growing. Some dogs come to us so severely overgrown and matted that we literally don’t know if the dog is male or female until we shear them like sheep.

Since we get new dogs almost every day, we are constantly in need of volunteers to help keep the dogs clean so they can be comfortable and look their best for potential adopters.

We conduct grooming workshops on site at Poodle Rescue of Houston several times a year. They are held on weekends and usually last about eight weeks. It doesn’t matter if you are a novice wanting to learn or a professional groomer willing to volunteer your skills, we can always use your help.
